Good to know

About the kitchen.

A few quiet answers to questions guests often ask before they arrive.

What does “halal kitchen” mean here?

Simply: no pork, and any meat we cook is sourced from halal suppliers. Alcohol isn’t used in the cooking. It’s a quiet kitchen standard — not a statement — and the food is for everyone.

Where does the halal meat come from?

Only from small Andalusian farms — family-run holdings in the Alpujarras and the wider Granada province, with halal-certified slaughter. We work with the same handful of producers year-round, visit them, and know the people raising the animals.

How do you keep ingredients fresh?

Two simple habits. Vegetables, fruit and bread are chosen each morning at Órgiva’s local market. Meat, dairy, eggs and oil come on a weekly run direct from the farms — short distances, named producers, nothing anonymous in the kitchen.

Can I cook for myself in the flat?

Yes. Each flat has a fully equipped private kitchen. You’re welcome to bring and prepare whatever you like — we only ask that pork isn’t cooked in the shared building, out of respect for other guests.

Is alcohol allowed?

In your own flat, of course. The café and pizzeria are alcohol-free spaces — coffee, tea, juice, soft drinks and a short list of alcohol-free aperitifs.

Are vegetarian and vegan options available?

Always. Most of the menu is plant-forward — seasonal vegetables from the valley, sourdough, olive oil, cheese, citrus.
